Joint supplements thread, sorry I know it’s a common thread!!

Does anyone use Cortaflex as a supplement, for their horse? I can’t really tell whether it makes a difference or not, so wondering if anything better is on the market.. that won’t break the bank :D

There’s a fab table doing the rounds on here that someone put a lot of time and effort into comparing the different common supplements available. They looked at the dose of each ingredient verses the dose required to make a difference to a horse (lots don’t have enough of the listed ingredient to matter)

I don’t know how to find it but I’m sure someone knows what I’m talking about and can come up with it.
I’m not entirely sure Cortafkex was one of the best either to be honest.

It actually contains not very much of active ingredients.
Compare with other products and see how much of the active ingredients each of them give.

yeah I get what you mean, it’s a bit overwhelming trying to find the right thing. I used to give them both the NAF MSM 10000 thing and I dunno if it really helped.

David Marlin did a comparison chart on this a few years back. Of course his own product appeared to contain most of everything, but at least it would show you some comparison.
A good supplement can help to create a good environment for the joint to function in but you shouldn't really expect a supplement to either make or keep your horse sound.

I used to use Riaflex on my old mare I think it made a difference and it's got good reviews now and is value for money compared to some as has high quantities of the needed ingredients compared to some others, I did research it at the time and it came out as one of the best ones but this was some years back.
