Cortison injections in the hocks - Costs?

Does anyone here know how much it woud cost to get the vet out to inject the hrses hocks with cortison to treat bone spavin?

I have a bill somewhere fom earlier in the year, but can't find it. Can roughly remember the totl, but that included a lot of x-rays, clinic stay, etc.

My horse's insurance for this is running out in July, and I just wanted to prepare, should she need any more injections.

I can't find the invoices, but Sophie had this recently, and I think, with the nerve block etc it came to around £140. That is from a vet who doesn't charge a call out fee, I assume he charges that little bit more on everything else.

ETA it was a steroid, not totally sure which one.
 
Aaaaaarghhhh!!!!

That's a big difference in price!!! £140 is fine, but £401???? I don't know how you can justify paying so much for just a few drops of cortison... and the injection also doesn't take that much longer than a few minutes!!!
 
Crikey. Happy's just had his done and I hope its not going to cost that much. It cost me (or the NFU) £524 for one call out with investigation and a day at the vet's with 12 x ray's, nerve blocks etc. I think £401 is hugely over the top!!
 
Mine is about to have them done, though he needs x-rays (and poss nerve blocks) first. I'm expecting to pay between £500 and £1000 for the investigations, treatment (he needs both hocks doing) and then physio afterwards as recommended by vet. The vet has said that if he needs them again after the insurance has run out, it will be IRO £150 (for cash) for just the injections.

That's about how much the 2nd investigtion cost me (or the NFU). The first investigation cost about £450 - but the vet seriously misdiagnosed and didn't even investigate the right legs - the one we mostly had problems with... what's so difficult in figuring out what the HIND legs are as opposed to the fore legs!!!

So, the second round of investigation included several x-rays (legs and back), a day at the vets and the injections... unfortunately, I never looked at how much the injections themselves cost, and can now not find that bill...
