daughters horse not right after a dressage training session. initially thought she has pulled a muscle . she has been seen by the mctimony lady who knows her well and has some tension/pain in lumbar region and tension in hamstring and is 1/10 lame on the off side hind . we have had her for 2 years and no lameness but next step is a full lameness work up in case its some changes in her hocks . she is 15. she is insured but i have a large excess. how much roughly including x rays .thanks . i can take her to our local equine vet and will get everything done so i not what to deal with.

wouldnt know what it would be inclucding x-rays. generally a lameness work up just starts with trot ups, flexion tests. being seen on the lunge and under saddle. If they can identify which leg then the nerve blocks start and then x-rays if needed. my lameness workup (just trots ups ect) was £80 but everything else that followed (full body bone scan, nerve blocks and x-rays) amounted to alot. in the end my bill has come to 3 grand. That was diagnosing kissing spines(mild), bone spavins in both hocks and navicular.
how big is your excess?

blimey that is high! depending on where the nerve blocks are done they range upto £100 per block and xrays are the same. you pay so much for the xray. so for example.. £80 for the x-ray and then £20 for each xray plate used. so it depends how many pictures are taken.
