my dog weights 46kg,i dont really want to shell out for 3 months advocat all in one go so would it be possible for me to buy the smaller pack, enough to treat my dog for 1 month? or is this a silly idea.

just spoke to my vets.they wont do that /\ /\ and if i want a perscription to use online it will be £9.95.
any thoughts?

I used to get 1 month pippette of Advocate from our vet no problem at all. Have now switched to stronghold and drontal tablets but can get the stronghold 1 month at a time too.

I find it's generally cheaper to bulk buy. But then I only have a dinky dog so for me it costs £25 for 6 months worth online plus £5 for a prescription from the vet when 6 months worth from the vet direct would cost me £45!

If ur dog comes in to contact with slugs or snails you def want to stick to advocate...esp in england. some vets split pack, others dont. but it often works out cheaper to buy a pack? U can buy online with a prescription....price up both...vet price and online + prescription price..may still b cheaper online for you?

my friends vet will do this(sell a pack that has enough to cover a dog for a month) but mine were a bit `sniffy` when i telephoned.
last time i bought from my vet, they sold me a large pack and a small one, when it would have been cheaper to have the extra large.i suspect they are money grabbing as i remember looking on line last time and thinking i could have saved nearly £30

i deff want the advocat.
where do you all buy yours from?
thanks

We are not allowed to open up a pack and only sell one application of advocate. It actually works out cheaper to buy more ie: buy a 6 pack is cheaper than buying two 3 packs. If your vets allowed you to buy one advocate at a time you will actually be spending more money in the long run? If you buy it online you will need a vets prescription so it may be worth your while to pay for the prescription and search online for the best price.

i didnt mean open a pack,i meant buy a smaller size and put all 3 on for 1 treatment of a bigger dog.
i know you prob end up paying about the same but i have horses to worm this month and i am tight and dont like parting with lots of £`s all in one go lol :)

Ah so you mean buy a pack of 3 pipettes but for a smaller size dog...and use all 3 as one treatment for a bigger dog? In that case no, I would be surprised if a vet let you just in case the dosage is not enough and won't work (could aid resistance) or too much and could lead to your dog becoming ill.
