Hi j think my horse has stomach ulcers and I have the vet coming out Monday will he have to do an endoscopy to check and if so how much will it cost and is there any cost effective ways of getting rid of stomach ulcers if so ?

The only way to find out for sure is to scope them. If your vet has a long enough scope he can probably do it. My vet had to get a specialist down to do it and it cost a fortune!! About £300 for the scope plus £400 for the travel. Another time i would take the horse to the specialist

I had my horse scoped at home a couple of months ago, it was about £315 including callout, sedation etc.
Luckily, my horse didn't have ulcers, as the only effective treatment is Gastrogard at around £200 per week, and depending on severity, your looking at 4-6 weeks treatment.

£200 ish plus sedation, so around £250. Then the cost of the treatment (gulp). It is also important to reflect upon and then change your management routine because if you don't remove the source of the ulcers such as stress, cereals, insufficient fibre, etc they will return.
