Can anyone give me a vague idea of how much it costs to run a blood test on your horse? Do you have to be specific in what you want tested or is it a general all round test for everything? I realise all vets probably differ but just wanted a vague idea

I had bloods done on a horse who came back off loan underweight for no obvious reason - vet tested for a range of functions. He charged for visit, for consultation, for taking blood, lab fee and then for interpreting the result, and charged me just over $160 (read pounds, my keyboard has lost its pounds sign for some reason) which I thought was OTT TBH. I'll be interested in what others report.

I was charged £100 for a blood test for one of my oldies who developed an unexplained swelling on his abdomen. This was approx 6 years ago, and was testing blood for several things.

The £100 was just for the blood test, visit etc was extra.

Just had a blood test done on my horse last month which included a FREE Cushings test which cost £167.36 included call out fee, VAT etc. I had the blood checked because my horse had become lethargic and was worried he may have picked up a virus. Hope this helps.

Cushings test this February was £65 that was just the blood work plus cost of call out.
General blood test for kidney and liver function last week was £59 for the blood work plus call out £19 plus veterinary examination with vat £110
It very much depends on the area you live in
