what do you pay your vet for castration ??

and do you sell your foals as colts or geldings ???

My 2yo colt just had a gelding op and a hernia repair for £250.
We are having a 4yo gelded soon and I have been quoted £300-£350 for him but thats because he is going in to the clinic to have it done and staying.

I usually sell foals and yearling ungelded, if I sell 2yos and older, I usually geld them when we decide we aren't keeping them entire for ourselves.

I paid £200ish inc Vat for my shetland castrating last year so i could keep him as a family pet, but he did have 2 days in clinic and vet had to do him on his back as he was too small to do stood up. (LOL at thought of vet on hands and knees trying to geld shetland.
Im probably no help.

I had my 4yo done earlier this year. It cost me just under £500 inculding the VAT but it was done at the clinic and inculded 3 days livery (day before op, day of op & day after op)

£160 to send them to the vets to do it (2 days at the vets)

I like to leave them as colts when for sale, to give the buyer the option but if they are still here by their yearling spring, then they get gelded
