What is the approx cost of having a bitch spayed, including pre and post op checks?

Also, I have read several places that it is best to have them spayed 2/3 months after their first season, my bitch is just coming into her first season, so i'm thinking around May/june time? Is this correct?

Thank-you

I dont know the cost as guide dogs pays for it for us, however most vets refuse to spay less than 6 weeks after the first season, theres a gap between 6 and 12 weeks when its a good time to have it done
My current puppys a year noew and tohugh shes been showing signs of coming into season for weeks, she hasnt, so it looks like shes gonna have to have it done before shes come into season, which i dont want, but at the end of the dsay shes not my dog.
But yes, between 6 and 12 weeks, from when it finishes i tihnk...which lasts about 2 weeks i think...assuming she doesnt have a phantom pregnancy or anything

Well prices will obviously gone up now but our lab was spayed at 1 year old and cost £120.00 so I would imagine about £150 - £180 I suppose. Their are some vets on here so maybe one of them will be able to answer for you. Sorry just thought it would give you a rough idea.

Where i work we do them 12 weeks after their season, not sure about cost as we charge £25 as we are a charity and you have to be on benefits to qualify, when i had my small bitch done it was £150 that was a year ago.

different prices depending on weight, my staffords as long as under 20kg were £180 each at local vet although i got them done at vet hospital (as i always go there) and it was about £230 each

mine were done 3 months after their 3rd season (just cause i never got round to it before then!

if you are on benefits etc some places offer discounts

Mine was £75 c couple of weeks ago for a bitch under 20kg. That included a subsequent visit to have the stitches out.

I am having my GSD spayed later this month, haven't checked price yet. Was thinking it would be around £150 but think I could get a nasty shock from some of these figures

depends on your location. i'm in surrey and we charge between £150-£250 depending on the size of the dog. i did my grandad's springer 2wks ago and she weighed 14kg and total bill was £180. we dont charge for a pre-op check if they've been seen recently and post-op checks are included.
