Cost of hay?

I wonder if someone could tell me how much hay costs

I'm not so much an idiot horse owner as someone who has been on full livery too long! My mare eats 2 standard size slices a day - how much on avarage would that cost in a week?

approx 8 sections to a square bale therefore a bale should last around 4 days. Let's call it 2 bales a week! At the mo it's about £3.75 - £4.50 around here!

I've just found a great supplier of regular sized bales for £2.50 a bale

So it would be costing you around £4.50/week based on those costings

Im paying £3 a bale at the mo but that includes delivery, however we have very little grass at the mo so Im going through a few bales a week...even though they live out!

also still hard feeding as if it is winter, I hope this rain does the trick!

I pay £3.50 a bale so if he ate what yours does it would cost me £7 per week.

Unfortuntaltly mine eats about 5 bales a week during the winter

Hes out 24/7 now for the summer so hes saving me a fortune

We have a barn full for sale at £1.50 and it's nice hay. You can find it at a decent price if you search. Farmers often sell it cheaper than "hay suppliers" I find.

I pay £2.50/bale, but that's a good price here in the New Forest. Most are paying £3/bale and upwards. I have to buy minimum quantity of 30 bales a time.

We pay £1.50 a square bale but then we help with it. Otherwise, I think round here hay goes for £2.50 usually.

I pay £3 per bale inc delivery. You can get it cheaper but the hay I get is always good quality - which I'm happy to pay 50p more for!

Paying between £2 - £2.50 a bale at the moment.

Cairo eats up to a bale a day in the winter and there is no grazing, just muddy turnout. Chancer easily gets through half a bale a day so I have to shop around for my hay - if I paid £5 a bale I would be bankrupt.

£2.75 per small bale. However I buy the big square bales @ £30 each.

farmers are your best bet, if you want to get cheap hay. I get half my hay from our feilds and the other half from a farmer down the road he charges £1. 50 for last years hay but it goes up to £2.00 (it is realy nice medow hay) when the new bales are done. For ages we were buying over priced bad hay, because we just did'nt look, we found our farmer by word and mouth so get asking there is sure to be a good deal somewhere out there.

There are the rele small ones for sale that we use for sale in the equicentric portch bein advertise that is £2-75>. its rele gd stuff

I have one fatty off the grass and as she is a big horse we go through 2 bales aweek as £3 a bale.

£2 here for a wee bale, and £16 for a big round bale. The YO/farmer cuts it from his own land so reasonably priced.
