For those of you that buy your own haylage or hay how much do you pay and how long does it last?
I am on livery with haylage included at the moment but looking into renting a small place so have to buy haylage in. Would be for a 15.2 and possibly a pony.
Thanks

I pay £25 per big bale of haylage (delivered one at a time if need be) which lasts 10 days in depths of winter with my 2 having adlib and often shut in on yard/arena to save ground - they are 15.2 and 16hh. I just about get through it mid winter but start and end winter use small bale hay as it would go off b4 I used it all. I slit open wrap so all off and then put tarpaulin round with big rope round - take off layer at time or what I need and chuck it in their haybars.

I am selling 4ft6" bales for £23 at the moment. A bale lasts my two 7-10 days in the winter. If you only have one horse you may find large bales will go off before you get to the end. There seems to be a lot of it around this year, I had a huge crop which is why I have spare.
