Cost of loan vs cost of ownership

Sarah obviously feels you were bitching, thats why I made my comments, you shouldn't have posted if you didnt expect replies, esecially from the OWNER! Im sure if you have a chat tomorrow, will all be fine, you should have talked to her about trimming his feathers etc.. before broadcasting it.

Now seeing both sides of the story . I appologise for what i said . She is getting a very good deal . I think laura needs to speak with you sarah and not on here .

you havn't exactly slagged sarah off but your OP did come across that sarah was interfering when in actual fact the deal is the horse is on full livery week days as it seems you couldnt get up there daily to do him yourself? it was misleading and sarah has every right to be annoyed! whatever possessed you to put a post on here knowing full well that chances were sarah would read it ! just talk to the woman , she is quite approachable!!

I have every right to come on here and ask questions, and that's all I did.

Of course I expected replies, but replies to my questions - not replies from people jumping to conclusions and making her sound like she's being unreasonable - something I never said!!

As I said, I am inexperienced with loaning, and as it was never suggested that I could come daily and see him I didn't know that was an option for me! This was not supposed to be a discussion about my loan agreement - other people have dragged it into that - but a question on how much owning a horse costs in comparison, and I have already apologised if my original post came across as if I was complaining.

I wasn't slagging her off or complaining, of course I know she comes here but why on Earth should I think it inappropriate to ask questions because there is someone on here I know? As I have said a few times over I posted this to ask a question and didn't mean to sound like I was having a go - I apologise again if that's how it sounded! If OTHERS thought it sounded like she was interfering that was because they don't know the whole story - which they didn't need to know, as that was not what the post was about!

At the start of your post you gave people the impression you were getting ripped off so to speak but as soon as Sarah piped up and told her side of the story, we saw it from both sides.
From what I read in the OP, you said something like you cant do the horse in the week? that makes it look like sarah wouldn't let you up there in the week.

I am sorry it read that way to you.

I said I have been riding weekends and wanted to try to ride during the week. That's not to say I can't get up half an hour earlier in the morning to muck out, feed him and turn him out.

Out of interest, what made you think I thought I was being ripped off? Was it that I didn't say that I was getting full livery for that price? I didn't think to mention it at the time but I suppose it does make sense. I thought all I had done was state numbers

I really didn't mean for things to go this way. As usual I put my foot in it, not meaning to cause offence but managing to anyway

I would be more than happy with that - I am paying out £80 a week for 2x45min riding, as my only access to horses at the moment is on lessons. I do not get to do anything with them other than untack as they always have to supervise everything due to health and safety. Would swap!!

However as both me and my OH ride I would buy rather than loan it is going to be bad enough sharing between us

Also as I would feel worried and uncomfortable that I was not doing things specifically as the owner would like.

I did share a horse when I was younger and did 3 days a week for free, however I did everything for the horse and as he was not an easy ride at all I was helping bring him on.

I think you should sit down and have a chat because its got out of control.

In answer to your qustion

Owning is alot more, i pay £30 a week diy with stable. Food, hay, bedding, shoes, vacc, worm and insurance is all on top of that. If you buy you also have the initial cost of horse, tack and rugs boots etc.

Sounds like you've been very lucky to find Sarah and her horse and if you can talk it through, i wouldn't even think of buying one yet

Im quite envious, I wish I could find something like that.

Im a part loaner who pays £32 per week for 3 days and I have stable duties on my days as its DIY.

Yours would be a dream not having to muck out, just go down and ride with more time to make a fuss of the horse.
