As title really...
Someone I know has a piece of land and has asked advice on what to charge for renting it out for horse(s)
I don't know much about the size or condition of it but wondered what you guys would expect to pay?
So - those of you who rent grazing, what does it cost you and what is included? Is it charged per horse or per acre?
Thanks

Hi there i rent 5 acres for my 2 horses and am £20 per week per horse. I have a lot of clover but can be strip grazed easily. Not sure how helful that is but...

mum has a couple of grass liveries, and she has generally charged £1 per day, per horse.

This just includes turn out in the field, you have to poo pick, provide your own water and check them daily yourself.

She does the other field maintenance and arranges the rotation of the paddocks and worming rota (wormer is not included though!).

There is a field shelter in the field, but no mains water.

I have 2 acres with water supply, field shelter and 2 storage sheds. I pay £100. Price remains the same whether one horse or 10 (I wish). Owner on site, but non horsey and non interfering.

I rent about 4 acres from the local council. It is a 10 month lease and I am responsible for all maintenance, fencing, gates etc. In short, the Council just provide the field. It initially came without a water supply and I paid to have water laid on (fortunately there was a main with a stopcock on the edge of the land so it was very cheap to have it connected again). The rent is £660 for the 10 months plus £50 for the actual grazing licence legal document. The Council increases the rent every 3 years by approx 10%.

I pay £10 a week per horse and currently have 2 there, have a nice well fenced 6 acre field with running water. Its just me there and I do all maintainance.

I do also have 2 stables included in that price, however I paid out to repair the roof on them therefore my rent has been left the same.

I pay £150.00 a month for two horses on two acres. I also have two stables, tack room and small hay storage area. Landowner pays for water, electricity, muck removal and maintenance.
