My mare is on box rest at the moment after an operation for septic pedal osteitis (see post below for more details!). She got mild laminitis after the operation, probably brought on by stress, so she is on ACP at the moment because it increases blood flow to the foot. She has been on 10 x 25mg tablets twice per day, at a cost of around £6 per day. Today when I went to get more, the vets said that the supplier has stopped making the 25mg tablets and now only do 10mg tablets. The same dose from the 10mg tablets will cost £12/day - the manufacturers explanation for this is that the 10mg tablets are for small pets (hmm, that logic works). I could give her Sedalin but from the vets this comes out more expensive, and if I get a prescription from the vets and then buy the gel online it works out pretty much the same............
Any ideas on how to reduce this cost, for example are the 25mg ACPs available (by prescription) online anywhere?
She's got to be on the medication for another 10 days at least, and having already spent the best part of 4k on the problem, I could really do with reducing the drug costs.
Thanks, sorry it's so long.

Thanks - now you say it that was the obvious thing to do - I googled sedalin but for some reason didn't try for ACP tablets.
Getting a prescription on Monday!

1 or 2 ml sedalin will keep said horse quiet for a while and cope with the lami issue. having already spent 4 k surely an extra few pounds on sedalin is neither here nor there. a 10 ml tube of sedalin here is only 14.50 and that would do 5 days?

I have very good advice from my specialist equine vet about the ACP dosage - I wasn't asking on a public forum how much I should give her, just where I might be able to find it cheaper. Oddly enough, I don't have an endless supply of money so I am trying to cut costs without compromising the horses treatment. If you actually do the sums, you will see that she would need 7ml of Sedalin each day.
