Hi Guys, sorry if this has been done before but looking for some advice please. My 6yr Staffie has a partial tear to his cruciate and i have been advised to have TPLO surgery. I have been quoted £3000 for the op then £40 to have sutures out and £300-400 for xrays after 6 weeks to check plates are in place. Now I have have no idea if this is a good price so wondered what you have had to pay for this surgery? He is 20kgs if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance for any help.

I think £300-400 for x-rays seems a bit steep. Can't really advise on the total price for the op except that it is known to be very expensive!

Pretty much what I paid over 4 years ago. Be warned, the other cruciate is almost bound to go too. My insurance wouldn't pay for the second one because they said it was a 'pre-existing condition'.

The staples/swelling afterwards aren't pretty, but the boy was back to full fitness pretty soon.

I've had 3 of these done and am currently waiting for the 4th to go!! 2 dogs worth in other words...oh lucky me. We have paid between 3 and 4 grand for each so you have not been quoted anything out of the ordinary. However my insurance paid for everything. If you are debating whether to have it done or not then do it. Your dog will be pain free and it is worth every penny for that alone.

Oh godness I may make some feel sick but all mine cost under £50 for top rate surgery by our own bionic vet (at my work) not the real one.:p perk of the job:)
My akita had a partial tear and my rotti had a partial on one leg and total rupture on the other, both healed 100% both where weight bearing the following day and my rott recovered in super speedy time, my akita was a little longer as she had alot of arthritis.
