Hi, just wondering if anyone has any ballpark figures for the cost of getting a yearling transported from midlands Ireland to Scotland. Additionally if anyone has any recommendations that would be great.
Thank you!

Ask the likes of Eric Gillie, they transport across the Irish sea regularly and also go up and down the UK daily from their base in Kelso.
Probably wont be the cheapest but they are very reliable and are highly reccomended.
I've used them quite a number of times over the last 40 years.

I think it cost me £250 to transport my horse from Cumbria to Aberdeen docks. Ghillie’s were slightly cheaper than the smaller transporter I went with but they didn’t work in for boat sailings. Ghillie’s were very good and quick at responding to enquiries though.

Not the one where a horse died two years back because it was so starving on the journey (they like to keep the horse boxes clean!) that it ate a haynet. I'm sorry I can't help with the name, but somebody might be able to find the thread.

Gillies have regular runs from Ireland to the UK, and are very experienced and reliable, would be my choice from Ireland. They have a website worth looking at and are very organised. There are other transporters who you’ll see parked up at the sales who may be slightly cheaper. They collect horses and then sort them from various yards before coming across. Definitely worth checking who you’re using.
