Hi everyone,

I have an opportunity to share a happy hacker horse for 3 days a week on a yard very close to where I live.

The horse is a little green in the school and needs work in terms of its fitness and weight. But, is sound to ride etc.

The agreement would be to help with minimal yard duties and riding.

What sort of cost would be expected in the East Midlands region?

Many thanks for your help in advance :)

I’ve had shares from 60-80 for 2x a week (loosely, usually allowed more days as the last few owners didn't ride much) with chores, so I’d expect a little more than that.

Don’t get sucked in to paying for hooves or livery. Just have a flat fee to keep it safe.

BHS does a good template agreement.

Might be worth checking out Riding with Rhi’s money diary to see how much sharers on there are paying.

If you were doing chores on the days you rode I’d maybe expect to contribute £25 a week. If top class facilities maybe a bit more.
I think that is too low, if I'm honest. Costs have gone up massively. I was paying that for a 2 day share with jobs 3 years ago, and I knew then that it was good value. I now own the horse, and regardless of jobs there's no way I'd let someone ride for as little as roughly £8 a time, with all the risks that go along with it.
