Hi
In view of my post earlier ref issues with horse turn out etc I'm now looking at options.
Having been on full livery for a while I'm after some realistic costings for:
DIY
Your own land (or rented) - not the cost of the land but more feed costs, hay costs etc.
If anyone does rent land i'd be interested to know how much it costs a month / year?
Thanks!

My livery bill is pprox £190.00 a month thats stable bedding (flax) feed, field and use of school. I do not pay for extras as we help each other out but if I want him on full livery per day its £5.

Hope that helps

I'm on DIY and it's £80/month including straw, plus £2.75 a bale for hay (last year...), and I have use of a school, lights and jumps over the road and off road hacking.

Please think very carefully before taking on your own land. I know he's your first horse, and you have him on Full livery at the mo, so it would be a HUGE change to then get your own land.

I'm sure you'll find a nice yard, maybe go for somewhere that does full, part and DIY livery so you could start going DIY when you're ready, but still with the support of others around you.

I can imagine you're really annoyed, stressed, and have lost trust in your YO, and I'm sure you'll consider all your options carefully. As a very inexperienced owner myself I can only begin to imagine what hard work it would be to have a place of my own, and I know how much I rely on advice from those around me!

Good luck finding somewhere...which part of the country are you in?
