I am trying to decide whch way to go lorry or trailer - pros and cons and costs. Heart says lorry, head says trailer. Has anyone done a costing exercise recently when trying to decide which to get? Which won ans by how much? One factor for me is that I do a lot of miles for work and I would lose out on expenses having a 4x4 since I couldnt get near to covering my costs because the maximum payable per mile is so low.
look forward to getting some help on this!:confused::eek:

It depends on your mileage. Would the additional costs of taxing, servicing and everything-else-ing on a lorry be more or less than the costs of an annual trailer service, plus extra fuel, insurance, MOT and service costs for a 4x4 vs a little car? With a lorry you basically need to run two vehicles, so the fuel savings for driving a little car have to be at least enough to cover the annual running costs of a lorry.

I love my lorry, and think it is worth every penny. As for fuel, I dont think it uses any more than the 4 wheel drive pulling a trailer. Insurance is usually is not bad. It can be very costly to plate or when things go wrong. Its all swings and roundabouts.

ofcourse I could have a trailer and 4 x4 AND a tiny electric car! Would proably still work out cheaper to tax, insure and MOT those two than a lorry and small car. Umm! But its the living I want in the lorry, and trailers with living are all too expensive to buy.
