I recently viewed a horse that i really want to buy.
The farm I will take her to has a policy where she must be vaccinated, however she isnt at the minute. How much will this cost ?
Also i would like to get her vetted, can anyone explain the different levels of vetting and also an estimated price?
She is a 14 year old, shire x tb. And i will be using her mainly as a happy hack so i dont think i need a full vetting?

First vaccinations are in 3 phases. Primary vaccinations are done 28 to 42 days apart (2 lots of Tetanus and Flu jabs) with a booster approx 6 months after and then annually after that.

I would always have a 5 stage vetting if buying from someone I didn't know.

There is either a 2 stage or 5 stage vetting, cost varies.

also, what if the vet fails her? does that mean i can still buy her? if its nowt too serious? wil they tell me why they pass or fail her?

She won't 'fail'. You will be given a report from the vet, it will tell you what he finds on the day, and his opinion as to her suitability for the job you are buying her for. You make a decision based on the report.
 
They will tell you but it shouldn't always put you off buying. My last horse failed the vet for lots of minor reasons but I still went ahead and she was brilliant - wish I still had her !!

It depends on the comments from the vet.

My SiL had a horse that failed a flexion test, vet retested a week later and she passed - buyer still bought.

Vets are supposed to say the word "fail" however I can assure you that some do which is NOT what they should do.
