OK....going to scare myself stupid but really need to work out how much my boys are costing me due to recent yard move and new livery etc etc...

I am trying to draw up a list of things I spend on them...cant anyone add anything?

Livery - monthly
Shoes - 6 weeks
Feed - worked out an aprox amount I spend monthly
insurance - monthly
hay and straw - included in livery at mo
wormer - worked out yearly on the programme they are on
back - worked out yearly as seen twice year
Teeth - worked out yearly as seen twice year
Jabs - yearly

Is there any other 'big' things i have missed?

On a seperate list is lessons, competition entries, tack rugs etc and additional vets bills.

And if you feel you must find out don’t tell anyone including OH. Lol
 
I started doing this on Jan 1st this year, trying to work out an annual/monthly/weekly budget and nearly gave myself a heart attack, got really worried and upset and finally my husband told me to stop writing it all down and worrying, because I clearly wasnt going to sell the horses so it was worrying myself for nothing!

One thing I have done and was useful was I wrote down every horsey purchase for 2 months and I saw that going to tack shops was a huge drain on my money because I always picked up something that was a bargain, in the sale bin etc. These things add up!

I also ditched most of the supplements and herbs I was feeding when I saw what they were costing me (and my horses have not fallen over yet - I have seen no difference in calmness/condition etc)

Just dont forget to add a small amount in your budget for replacing first aid supplies like vet wrap and wound powder etc - thats what I always forget to budget for, maybe a small amount put aside each month for a slush fund for replacing broken equipment and first aid stuff?
