Hi all

Matty and I have decided to enter some fancy dress dressage next month but I am struggling for costume ideas

I'm looking for costumes that are cheap/easy to do for a woman and a black Hanoverian

Any ideas?

Thanks

Zorro would be fun for a nice black horse, equally being black any bright colour is going to be pretty striking on him, as its dressage and want to look pretty what about ballerina / fairy, or something involving a flowing gown

I think he would hate me if I dress him up in anything too girly in front of the mares!

If he's black you could use kids face paints/ chalk to turn him into a zebra - I saw it done once at a show and it look fab , then you could do a safari type outfit for you - beige jods and shirt etc.

How about going as Bride & Groom??? Horse would be really easy to sort out, white over reaches, something white around his neck with a black dicky bow put on & if he is quite placid a black top hat:) You could also plait him up & put some small flowers into the plaits :)

I thought about trying to turn him into a skeleton but when I tried putting a little face paint on him as a trial he just wanted to lick it off!

That is actually a great idea - may well end up doing that one as he would look so cute in a top hat (I have a small top hat fascinator that would work perfectly)

I saw a great photo on facebook the other day. The horse was dressed up as a spider (the legs looked like they were made of pipe lagging) and the rider was Little Miss Muffet. The spider's legs were really long as it was obviously just a fancy dress class, but you could probably make shorter ones that would let him move more easily.
