CotswoldSJ is an a*se. com

the saddle winner only had 5 posts in total so doesn't seem like it went to a regular on the site?
not sure why it can be a fix, just cause they had an avatar pic????
sounds pretty strange that that would be what they'd go for in a winner

How random!

are you saying people with only 20 posts or above should have been allowed to enter? The person accusing the sites admin of fixing it (I presume this was you?) only has 3 posts....

or should people not be allowed avators?

Seriously, get a grip!

The member wasn't exactly new having joined 6 Nov 2007, just hasn't posted much. Non of the members who posted on that thread had posted much either!

Every organisation has to adhere to rules and regulations when offering a competition. I don't care who won, but it was obviously picked by someone looking at pictures!

Quick and dirty selection simply isn't 'random' and should never be advertised as such

The BBC and ITV have been caught by this - so every organisation whether large or small needs to be aware of the competition commission.

if you had won would you have this opinion! I doubt it your just a very bad loser. I would watch your step you have a business that could be easily boycotted!

"it was obviously picked by someone looking at pictures".

Where is your evidence for this?

"Quick and dirty selection simply isn't random"

Again, where is your evidence that this is how the winner was selected?

FYI the BBC and ITV weren't caught out in this way. They were found to have been dishonest in charging people for entries that were then not included or given the chance to participate in a competition.

You're talking complete bollocks. What a nasty person you are.

Sorry Cotswolds SJ but regarding competition can I just say that you should check your facts before you harp on about the competition comission.

The competition commission deals with mergers & aquisitions, to check that no one has a monopoly on the market. They would not be REMOTELY interested in a small online competition, which to me looks honestly run.

You didn't win. Please get over it.

Because you say so?

You don't care? Methinks you do protest too much. Bet you were a right bundle of laughs on sports day.

I'd be very careful what you say on public forum about this, accusations really do need backup of more than "she had a prettier picture than me". And this is quite a serious accusation you're making... in PUBLIC. In essence what you're saying could be damaging to their company...

I find this incredibly sad, why can peple not just accept that sometimes other people win?

You have no idea what the Competition Commission actually is/does, have you?
I'll give you a clue...it used to be called the 'Monopolies and Mergers Commission'...is light dawning yet?

Because I crunch numbers for a living and theirs really didn't add up.

Actually as it was free entry they can legally do what they like when it comes to selecting winners.

Though you have to wonder, how many competitions are run properly when they go on behind closed doors. What annoys me personally is that when you enter, whether it be H&H or a local paper etc, you expect to have an equal chance of winning.

That said at uni I knew the paper there used to always pick entries from the top of the pile - so if you entered late you bettered your odds.

That's a fairly quick backtrack. Mind you don't fall over yourself.

It's taken me 2 mins to find lots of information out about you via your website and companies house.

You really should be more careful about what you say in public, especially when such alot of info about you is so freely available.

What a nasty piece of work you are.

Ok I am going to post and then go away as I am so angry and upset I feel sick to my stomach.

I spent hours cutting up bits of paper and have done so over the past 2 weeks having issued TEN prizes most of which went to members that joined the SAME DAY with no previous posts and no account activity and NO AVATAR. Did I refuse to give the prizes? NO. They won fair and square.

Now to make you feel like total rubbish like I do right now … my mother in law died of cancer aged 62 on the 25th July 2008, my granddade died 4 weeks later and my grandmother aged 90 yesterday. Is this a fixed series of events as they were related to me? I am only mentioning this to help you understand how bad you have made me feel on top of how I feel about these events anyway. I haven’t mentioned it to a soul professionally and feel sickened to have to feel I should mention it.

My site is free and I have worked tirelessly to get it off the ground without payment. I am sobbing as I write this. I am stressed with my personal life but soldiered on.

Shall I do anymore, yes of course for my loyal members who think I have a fantastic site and use the site daily and are lovely to other members when they win.

I am sorry you feel this way but you have made me feel far far worse. I’ll probably feel bad the entire weekend due to you personally.

Thank you to everyone for your support.

No I'd have kept quiet as I crunched the numbers at lunchtime and added an avatar to improve the odds, and no I didn't post my observations on here.

By the way folks - free thought is still allowed and whether the insane number crunchings of a wine slurping bored accountant or not, I am entitled to them!

catymmh - please don't get to upset by this. Is just one user who is probably right now regretting shooting her mouth off. I am sorry about your family. Please go and have a large G & T and forget about all of this. Xx
