Can anyone recommend any cottages that are dog friendly but not too pricey. Not got preference to where although like idea of Scotland but not too far north!!
Thanks- needs to sleep 4 and 2 dogs.

Those who have used dog friendly cottages, have you found them to be clean ? I'd love to take the dogs away but the thought of staying somewhere with beds and settees that smell doggy, is slightly off putting.

Very clean and no dog smell at all. The dogs are not allowed to go in the bedrooms and most also say not on the furniture. Dogs also not allowed to be left home alone.

^^^ This has been my experience too. We have stayed in lots of cottages with our dogs over the years and have never had any problems with smells, hair etc.

Some cottages charge a separate fee for a dog staying, others doubtless include it in their charges, to cover cleaning.

We stayed in a beautiful house in northumberland this weekend, 7 people and 4 dogs (one dog is 16 though so not exactly boisterous!). There are steps directly onto the beach, a secure (ish, I mean jumpable but its fenced) patio for dogs to dry off, and a kennel in the garage to shut them in if you want to leave them in the house while you go out. I can't rate it highly enough, definitely no smell or anything of dogs, really well looked after, and lots of little things that make it special. Its pricey but can sleep 10 so not too bad.
