I've inherited 2 Masta cotton sheets from the old owners of my yard. I've just dragged them out of the shed and one just needs a wash and the other is filthy, with a small hole but usable.

What do people use them for? They are under £30 new so I can't see the point in selling but wondering if it's worth washing them and popping on a local site for collection only. The 6'9" one may fit the Appy but I don't know when I'd use it.
 
Before mine lived out 24/7 I'd use a summer sheet under stable rugs as a clean layer that I could easily wash, so I'd replace them every week or few days as needed and it would keep the rugs a bit cleaner and mean the horse had a clean, breathable layer next to it's skin.

If I needed a horse to be clean for a show the next day in summer etc. then I might also put one on but they wouldn't keep off more than dust.

Often they can pull back on the shoulders, especially if the horse is moving around more like when turned out otherwise you could use them as a clean layer under a turnout. Or as mentioned above they can be used for travelling/ at a show if smart enough.
 
I use them under turnouts in the winter. Can wash regularly (every fortnight or so) and keep a clean layer next to the horse, then the turnout only gets done once a year.
 
We have some ancient cotton sheets for when we have bathed before a show on the rare very hot days (they seem like a very distant memory now!). Because they’re cotton they’re much cooler than a fleece rug but keeps the coat clean :)

Do they add much warmth or literally just a protection layer? Only the Appy is in the size range of the two I've inherited and she's my non ridden.
 
Every yard i work at uses sheets underneath rugs. Not totally sure if its as an extra layer or just to keep cleaner really. I have some but tbh I rarely use them. I might (if my horse wasn't so fat) in the stable if it was slightly chilly but not "rug chilly", However he has a layer of blub so its not required. I'm also too lazy to be taking layers on and off all the time 😄
 
I sometime use a summer sheet overnight to keep the dust and flies off or if it's a bit chilly overnight but not cold enough for a fleece. He tends to be out overnight in the summer now so I rarely use it. I have a brand new one in it's bag somewhere that I need to sell.
 
As others have said, I use them under winter rugs so I can wash regularly.

I also use them as a light rug when stabled overnight too.
 
If you’re looking to sell one, let me know! (I could do with a non fleecy stable sheet to stop Nug getting poo stains on his white at the nationals)🤣

You can have them! One is 6'9" and the other 7'3" but both need a good wash. Let me know if they'll fit Nugs (might come with a free spider....)
 
We used to use them all the time as the bottom layer when we used blankets and stable rugs, and before rugs were easily washable. They were a bit of a nightmare because they usually slipped and often ripped across the shoulders or along the straps. Can’t remember the last time I used one or owned one 🤔

Everything slips on my Appy and she is one who easily rubs so undercoats are a nightmare unless I can properly fasten them to her.

Its the cleaner one too! I'll drop it round. Sure you don't want the bigger one too in case he keeps growing? ;)
 
We use them all the time on sport horses. Under rug as extra layer, on warm nights in summer. They keep the coat shinier and with no static unlike artifical materials, wash easily etc. Rarely are our horses unrugged.

I mean, I’ll take them both if they’re going! Haven’t measured him in a while but the 6’6s that I bought for him last year are tight 🤣
