cough medicine

have you every heard of giving a horse children's cough medicine to cure a horse's cough?

mine has had a cough for last week, vets said benylin non drowsy chesty cough. just dont tell chemist its for horse - they wont sell it to you!!!

did it actually work?? i'd never of it before tonight. how much did you give him

i gave her a couple of spoonfulls (wooden spoon) she just licked it off. seemed to help a bit - she has had to go on antibiotics now as coughing mucus. its worth a try before getting antibiotics if its bad.
i hadnt heard of it either but the vets say benylin all time apparantly?

My vet said exactly the same. It works brilliantly. You'd be suprised what you can get from even the supermarket for pennies and the vets will charge you loads for!

i know some people use human medicine but not sure if it works or not!

I use NAF 5 star respirator for a dust allergy, depends why its coughing, my pony I had in the 70's had benelyn on a vets advice, not sure it worked I was only 7 ish then !

I use Covonia on my pony - 25 mls a dose for his cough and it works a treat.

Nothing in it that can harm them - and they love it!
