My mare has a nasty dry cough at the moment, the standard dust and pollen cough. How would be best to get rid of it? Someone suggested putting some honey in her feed? Has anyone tried this, I'd rather not call the vet as she was strangles swabbed a few weeks ago and I would rather try something over the counter or non-medicinal.

PS her strangles swab was all clear, as we're all the other horses in the yard.

Yes I have but not sure if it did any good. I have also used Net tex Air power and Folans Honey+C at different times. Air power has liquorice and menthol etc. Hard to know but I think they helped

Try Benylin - usually helps.

I've put honey in my horses feed when he had a cough. Don't know if it gets rid of it but does soothe. Also a little bit before being ridden.
