Coughing dog

We have a working bassett that has started what sounds like, between a cough and a snort. Its like shes trying to clear something but there s nothing there. She especially seems to cough when she starts running and then immediatly pulls up. Shall we just leave her untill it gets better or worse ?
 
my dog is being investigated for this they gave her three options

1. kennel cough

2 heart problems

3 has something stuck

she is going in for chest x-rays next Thursday as they have ruled out the kennel cough.

Take your dog to the vet, it maybe nothing or it may be something but it's better to be safe than sorry
 
yup id say vet visit

but inform the vet why! as being possible kennel cough they may wish for you to stay isolated from other dogs in case!
 
Neighbour's dog had a dreadful cough, half way between a cough and trying to bring something up . Everyone said kennel cough, but vet said lung worm and treated him for that.

Turned out to be tumours, very sadly, which is absolute worse case scenario, although dog was elderly, so hopefully not what your dog has. But just in case contact vet.
