My JRT has been coughing on and off for a couple of weeks ...Its sounds like he has something he needs to cough up. He cough's a couple or three of times, seems to cough something up although I haven't seen anything and then is fine. He well in himself, eating, drinking running about but is regularly 'coughing up' and clearing his throat. I can't see anything at the back of his throat.
Do dogs get furballs? I there anything I could give him or should I stop faffing and whip him to the vet?

Yup, you're right. If he had seemed unwell he would've been in straightaway but apart from the coughing up every now and then he so well. I keep thinking he's cleared it and then he does it again!!

Sounds like kennel cough. Youll need to see your vet for a course of antibiotics. Very contagious if it is that, so try to keep him away from other dogs.

Really!!!

He's with 2 other dogs all the time and they're fine. He has no other symptoms and is really well in himself.

yes. We have a cocker who is very susceptible to it, but the two mongrels have never caught it when he has had it. It dosent mean your other dogs will get it but they might. Id get him checked out.

I really think you should see a vet urgent. Could be one of many things.
Obstruction of the air way. small growth. Kennel cough.

Good Luck.
