My horse has had a flare up of his copd , had been on ventipulnin twice a day , out in field all day in at night , soaked and steamed haylage and shavings and well ventilated stable , the discharge has now cleared from his nose but he did have crackles on his chest when vets examined him , last few days been coughing more however tonight has coughed more frequently and quite a lot of effort , bit worried about him and usually ventipulnin kicks in x any advice ?

I believe that ventipulmin becomes less effective if used multiple times?

I think that you need to update the vet and see if there's anything else that can be done. I'm sure that someone on here had an inhaler for their horse when it was having an acute COPD episode.

Could you turn out 24/7?

My guy was put on a steroid inhalour when his copd got bad. Luckily or unluckily I have asthma so vet gave me ok to use mine ob him. I use the face mask over his nostril and give him the prescribed amount of puffs and he is normally out 24/7
