Just after some thoughts/ advice.

I moved my horse into an indoor stable (same yard) about 2 weeks ago. He is on straw bed and always has been but he is stabled near to horses on shavings. Basically in the past week or so he's started coughing... Not constantly just the odd cough during the day, but he also has white/ creamy mucas from his nostrils now and again. He's eating/ drinking etc and in good spirit. It seems to be clearing up slowly, but just wondered if I should consider getting the vet out or give it another week?

:)

I would think that it is being in an indoor stable that is causing his cough. Straw is dusty, but it was probably livable with before he came into indoor stables.

I think indoors is just a more dusty atmosphere, probably more stuffy too, and that is what is causing the cough. You could try haylage and see if that clears it up. You might need to change to a less dusty bedding than straw as well.

My gelding coughs as the winter goes on, once he stays out for longer as the weather improves the cough goes away. Haylage seems to help his cough (not sure that is not the "old soldier" coming into play though ;) ) , but it is just the way he is. It has been mentioned to vet when he has been visiting, but he does not seem overly bothered about it.
