Coughing - Wind op?

My horse coughs when he's being excercised, to varying degrees but usually for at least the first 10 mins of work. Generally, after he's shifted the irritation it stops.

He has had a wind op and it had been suggested that they might have overdone it a bit, perhaps to the extent that a small trickle amount of mucas is allowed to trickle down his windpipe causing the irritation.

There is nothing wrong with him health wise, he's been scoped and blood tested numerous times and nothing has come to light and looks great in his coat. He often coughs while eating his hard food but I can't find any correlation between the extent of time he spends in his stable or out in the field.

Im fairly sure there is nothing I can do to stop it, he seems very happy in himself and it doesn't appear to bother him in the slightest. However, I need to sell him and I know this is going to put 99% of prospective buyers off which is real shame as its his only drawback.

Any ideas or suggestions much appreciated! Thank you!

my old horse had a tieback and hobday at the same time, i was warned well in advance that coughing is a side affect especially at the start of exercise, i was very fortunate this did not happen to my boy but it sounds like this maybe what is happeing to yours x
