How many of you have horses that cough when you first pick up the pace. Ie:- from walk to trot?

Jed seems to do it everytime i go into the school, but not on a hack, just when i pick up trot but only for a couple of strides.

I believe its clearing his airway. We have a couple of other horses at the yard that do this but i cant recall all of them doing it, so thats why im curious to know if yours do.

Thankies.

mine does!! oh i'm so pleased it's not just mine!! However I have started to use this powder made by 'pegasus health' and he has completely stopped coughing!!

Ooooh and forgot to say he's on dust free bedding and soaked hay or haylage and wettened (sp) feeds!

My mare doesn't cough, but when she is working in the school, indoors or out, when we start to work properly, there is lots of groaning and nose blowing. My trainer says she knows when the horse is having to think about things.

get some naf cough ease or equimins cough power booster give it to her about 5 mins before you ride see if that helps both products are good and not exspensive!

it's www.pegasushealth.com under respiratory called koff aid - stinks but is great, plus I only ever use half the amount needed and he has stopped coughing and his breathing sounds much better in fast work or hard schooling work.
