Could any of these cars safely pull a trailer?

Ok so I know nothing about towing/car weights etc. I have a 500kg horse (15hh Welsh) who travels well, this is my work company car list, I'd like to explore the possibility of towing with a company car. I haven't done a trailer test (I have done my C1) if I could tow a trailer doing the test that would be fab but if I need to take a test it's not a huge issue. I like the ifor one horse trailers as they look very stable compared to some one horse trailers I've seen which look a bit narrow and unsteady.

All cars are diesel! Any personal experience of towing with any of these cars would be fantastic thank you :)

i'd knock out the ford fiestas immediately. we have one and there is no way i'd even tow an empty trailer with it!
I wouldn't feel happy towing with anything under a 2.0l at all.

Our mondeo 2.0 tdci easily pulled our 2 horse rice trailer, although we never pulled with a horse on board. Then car got reared ended by an idiot so only have a trailer on the drive now. Looking for a 4x4 now as would rather tow horse in one of those

Thanks for your replies, I should have really gone through the list and took out the obvious no hopers! I know a 4x4 is better, but that isn't an option! If none of these are suitable I will just have to hire a 3.5t when I want to go anywhere (which is obviously very expensive!) hence investigating the options I have available, but if none of the them are safe I will stick to that.

I think it also depends on the trailer though - my double rice Trailer is heavy empty, so that's why I'm on the 4x4 hunt. I read the Mondeos are great for towing and as I said, It towed our trailer really well. There are lighter trailers but we're unfortunately way out of my financial reach :( My YO used to tow with her Mondeo estate with a light trailer no problems although has since got a freelander

Mondeo or Volvo v60 should do the job.

However you need to check with your company about if they allow towing, some can be funny about it.

Mondeo, passat and v60 should all do it. Is that your company car list? Ask the rep for your lease company to fond out towing capacities from each manufacturer, or do some googling. I've got a volvo v60 d4 sportswagon on the way which will be fine for my 505 and one small horse. Wouldn't put 2 horses in tho.

Thanks that's very helpful :-) I've asked for the leasing company rep details to ask more questions. My friend whose very into cars has checked for me too and it seems the passat and mondeo 2.0s can tow the most at 1800kg. The Hb403 Ifor looks good, are there are other fairly sturdy single horse trailers or super lightweight 2 horse ones?

I think fautras/bateson/cheval libertes come in lighter than ifors.

There will be some threads on here if you search :).

ROG towing clinic will sort out the details because there are insurance and regulations and also your licence to consider.
You must have a good big car, the manufacturer spec will tell you what they can pull.
