Am doing an assignment for uni!!

I have to write about a current issue in sport and exercise around the world.

Now I would like to address an issue in the horsey circuit because i think that will be easier to present. The only problem i have is i have to firstly relate the sport/exercise to a country and then talk about the issue.

i.e If i chose canada i may wish to 'explore the exhorbitant financial cost of the olympic games held in montreal in 1976' - This is a example i have been given.

So if anyone could think of a horsey sport, dressage, sj, BE or polo the list goes on. And can relate it to a country and an issue raised.

Didnt the Germans just disband all their national equestrian teams, not sure if you can use that in anyway but its the only thing i can think of that involves horsey sport and one country. Did think about doping scandals but that seems to be universal.

How about the current crisis in equestrian sports (SJ and dressage) in Germany brought on by the doping scandals?

What about the accomodations Hong Kong had to make for the additional heat stress for the Olympics which brings about the issue and challenges of Global competition?

How is eventing in the Southern Hemisphere affected by the fact that most of their team members live and compete here?

I once did a study on the effects of heat on northern european horses at the Atlanta Olympics (and how it actually helped understand causes and treatments of heat injury). You could look at something similar, Atlanta, Hong Kong, etc, and whether it gives some horses and advantage (or some countries an advantage, i.e. those who can ship their horses in advance for aclimitization).

how about the issue of owners selling a lot of good horses abroad and where that leaves British riders - sorry no specifics, just keep noticing that more and more do seem to be going overseas
