Could anyone help me?Dog in pain?

My little terrier is going around the house kicking her back legs out..shel sit down and flick them out behind her and shes licking them a lot. I cant see anything there but shes doing it quite a lot. Could kicking her legs out be a symptom of anything else pain wise?

Dogs normally display this behaviour, when they have walked through something irritating, esp nettles, I would wash her paws, has she been for a walk today, could she have walked in someting, like nettles? my rotti does this, when her paws have been nettled, there are no visual signs, but of course, they still feel the sting.

Oh yes she did come down to the stables with me earlier...the little scamp does like to scavenge about

is it usual for her to be irritated a few hours after and not straight away?

Yep, usually, when they are inactive, back at home, he will feel like rubbing his paws and knawing at them, much the same as we do, when we are nettled, and look for something to itch ourselves on, and they kick there legs out in lightening speed, it's just the sting sensation, im betting, he has been rutting through the nettles, bathe them in some cold water, to help reduce the stinging effect, and wash of any sting that may be left.
Keep an eye on him, it should subside in a few hours, if not get him checked tomorrow.

Thats exactly what shes doing..shes sat fine one minute, and the next she kicks them out really fast as if theres something on them..and licking them.

Agree with Cala (as usual

), definitely sounds like something has irritated her pads,hopefully she will be fine after you have washed them off.

Shes not kicking them out anymore. She licking them a bit still but is going to sleep now on the floor as Im typing and she couldnt settle at all before so I think it has helped
