I was wondering if anyone could recommend a non heating feed that I could give my TB gelding as a treat before we ride out. I usually give him carrots but would like to give him a couple of handfuls of something yummy before we go out for a hack. He is currently turned out 24/7 until the weather gets cooler so is only on grass at the moment. I just want something that is easy to feed and won't fill him up too much or heat him up at all .... any suggestions?

If he isn't used to having feed then most things will be a treat to him I guess! I would personally give a handful of wet chaff or soaked fast fibre - good foods and v tasty esp when the horse isn't used to lots of bucket feed! Just a little isn't heavy before a ride, non heating and mainly long fibre so is good for your boy.

How about Badminton Feeds Fibre Plus Nuggets. They’re oversized grass nuts which you can feed singly or by the scoop – versatile product and the horses absolutely love them.

Just a couple of handful of fibre nuts...They are cheap and a big sack will last you ages. Not heating, will help his tummy and won't put weight on.
You can also put them in a treat ball that he could kick/roll around while he's in his stable.
