Following from my nasty fall post yesterday: http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/4835785/an/0/page/0#4835785 I am SO sore this morning.

Not only from the fall, but my gorgeous seven month old kitten was hit by a car last night and dies instantly. My OH found him in the road.

We havent slept all night, and i feel totally numb inside and ache outside.

His poor sister is now following me everywhere. We go away in a month for two weeks and so confused as to if we should get her a friend, or if she will adjust to being the only cat. We are petrified of letting her out in the garden now.

Rest in Peace Taylor 21.02.09 - 22.09.09 He bought so much love, happiness and smiles into our life. I cant believe his life has been cut so short.

(Right HS is Taylor, LHS is Tinker)

aww huge hugs my dear- i would get the other a friend tbh and although not replacing your little one it will give you some focus. I hope you feel ok after your fall too xxxx

Thank you xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Just want him to walk back through the door, but instead he is stuck in a cold grave in the garden.

I have parked my car out on the road in a bid to slow people down. Am also going to make a sign to ask people to slow down.

just drove back from the yard and his blood is still on the road....... why do such horrible things have to happen???

*hugs hunny* Poor you, what a horrible thing to happen.

My next door neighbours bought a kitten a couple of years ago, unbeknown to us. We found him sitting under our car, crying, he was so scared. We brought him in, settled him down, and found out he was next doors kitten. He decided he liked me more than them, and on a regular basis would get a phone call to say our alarm was going off becuase he had sneaked into our house through a door or window and would find him happily asleep on my bed. At only a few months old he was run over outside my house and killed. I readily admit I am a dog person, not a cat person, but he was one special moggy. After that, I vowed I would never have a cat as long as I lived in a town as I couldn't bear the heartache again, nor the guilt.

I am so so sorry, lots of hugs nothing I say will make you feel any better, and with regards to a friend for tinker I dont know with cats so not much help I am afraid

hugs again

((((((((((hugs)))))))))) really sorry to hear about your kitten

. At least you and your horse are ok after your fall, if a bit sore.

Wrap yourself in a blanket with some biscuits and hot choccy.

I'd get another kitten too, just as company for your little girl.

Hope you're feeling better soon

I'm so sorry SilverShadow - it's always horrible to lose a beloved pet and I really feel for you!! <<<<Hugs>>>>>

Aaw so sorry to hear this. We had 2 kittens that were brother and sister, the brother was killed and we did get another kitten to keep the female company. As they were both young they bonded really well. Sadly female was also killed when she was only 2, and we then kept the other cat as an only cat. I think as your little girl is still young she would probably accept another kitten, but cats are funny creatures.

Thank you people. I know blerting on here is a little over the top, but to hear your kind words really does help.

Tinker is now sitting on my lap, fast asleep. I let her sniff him, so she hasnt been calling for him.

OH and I are about to head to garden centre for a plant (Its a shady spot, so evergreen plant suggestions- lovely flowering ones- would be good!?)

Also going to buy some plastic to try and stop Tinker climbing over the wooden fence to get to the front? Does anyone have any other suggestions- thought could nail smooth plastic to wood then she couldnt get claws into climb. We have become ultra protective of her now.

Still in two minds about another- as i said- we are away in a month for two weeks- if they dont get on it could be more hassle- but if they do Tink would have a friend again... AAARRRHHHH!!! xx

I am sorry to hear about your kitten, it hurts I know.

If she is climbing over a wooden fence to get to the front where the road is you could try putting up wire or wood on top that slants in towards where you want to keep her in (a bit like a security fence) cats find it more difficult to jump, hang onto and climb over something that leans 'in' because it is more difficult for them to lever their back legs over once they grip with their front paws. I probably haven't made sense but I know in my head what I am trying to describe.

Anyway <<HUGS>> to you.

Oh hunny I really am sorry. Was going to ask how you were after your fall and then I saw your news on FB.

He was a lovely little cat and blessed to have had you as his mum!! Lots of hugs to you and Ed.

I think it might be best for you to get another for companionship as she has always had her brother and perhaps she wont be so clingy to you both?

I'm here if you need me xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
