This mornings update - a good one!
Kenny was comfortable last night Good news, but I hope they are going to do full investigations before sending him home. I really would not feel comfortable bringing him home without some sort of explanation.
My haylage supplier commented to me that there have been numerous colic cases (he runs a livery yard and knows other YOs). He said that many seemed to relate to changes in the horses paddocks ie. being moved to new pasture - so summer to winter grazing. He said that the vets involved had suggested that the mild weather had much to play in it. I suppose this does make sense as owners start their winter feeding regime and if there is still plentiful grass maybe the increase in feed is enough to induce colic in some horses. It's food for thought, but maybe not in your case Love. I am so pleased to read he is on the mend. I think I would be looking to feed a gut friendly supplement - like linseed or asking the vet for a recommendation if anything will significantly aid good gut health. Some people iuse psylium husk or Clearout annually to rid their horses gut of waste like sand particles etc that would not move naturally - I must admit I have thought to do this myself as a preventative measure.
Good news! You must be relieved.
