Could he please have some vibes? :(

This mornings update - a good one!
Kenny was comfortable last night :) They have not scanned him to see if his colon is displaced yet and won't i don't think unless the colic returns. However he is being scoped today as despite being starved for 24 hours (bet he's delighted about that, not!) there is still stuff in his stomach. His heart murmur has gone too which is a huge relief! they think it was related to the stress of the colic. Scoping this afternoon so will update then!

This mornings update is another good one :) sorry I've only just got round to posting!

He is looking good, stayed comfortable again and is being started on full feeds again today to see how he goes! Not sure about the results of the scope yet but will find out. They are still none the wiser as to what caused it and probably won't be. A little bit worrying as was hoping to get to the bottom of it but he's doing well which is all that matters now.

Can't wait to just get home on Saturday and see him!

Good news, but I hope they are going to do full investigations before sending him home. I really would not feel comfortable bringing him home without some sort of explanation.

From what I can gather they've done a lot of various tests but nothing certain is showing up :( he'll be there for a few more days so we'll see what happens during them

My haylage supplier commented to me that there have been numerous colic cases (he runs a livery yard and knows other YOs). He said that many seemed to relate to changes in the horses paddocks ie. being moved to new pasture - so summer to winter grazing. He said that the vets involved had suggested that the mild weather had much to play in it. I suppose this does make sense as owners start their winter feeding regime and if there is still plentiful grass maybe the increase in feed is enough to induce colic in some horses. It's food for thought, but maybe not in your case Love. I am so pleased to read he is on the mend. I think I would be looking to feed a gut friendly supplement - like linseed or asking the vet for a recommendation if anything will significantly aid good gut health. Some people iuse psylium husk or Clearout annually to rid their horses gut of waste like sand particles etc that would not move naturally - I must admit I have thought to do this myself as a preventative measure.

Thank you for your reply that's really interesting. We are actually looking into a supplement. My YO suggested gastrocare so going to see what the vets think

He's coming home! Either today or tomorrow, YO is going to pick him up. Will get the full low down and plan of action when I am home on saturday but i can now finally relax!

Thank you so much for all the advice, lovely replies and support. I never realised how much it would help along the way especially with me not being there.

Will update once i know the full story :)
