I am looking for a sharer for my horse.

Though as many of you know he is fear aggressive. He is hard to handle BUT a perfect push button ride and a real bombproof enjoyable hack and hunter.

Do you think I have any chance of finding a sharer who is a)patient b) gentle and c) mad enough to want to spend time with my lovely boy? I was thinking of a £50 contribution for 2/3 days weekday and 1 day weekend riding at an excellent yard with the prospect of taking him to shows/comps and hunting.

I thought I might find it Ok, but friends are now starting to mention "who'd want to"

I think so. So long as you're honest & upfront with the sharer and vice-versa so they don't over-horse themselves with him then there's no reason why some-one with enough experience to cope with any ground issues won't take him on as a fun ride

Perhaps some-one who's horse has retired and just wants something to ride a few times a week rather than commit to another horse. Always worth a shot

i think £50 is a bit steep, i am asking £25 pw for 3/4 days with my boy who is absolutley bombproof on a fantastic yard with and indoor and outdoor school, and chance to compete to the right person. i would try £35 and see what you get

oh i just assumed weekly as it doesn't say above in that case, you should have any problems, i have had my boy advertised for a week and already have 3 people interested. where do you have him advertised? and how have you worded it?

Its just gone in today to the local tackshop.

I have stipulated no men and no children, which Im sure is going to annoy some people but his happiness means more than not putting peoples' noses out of joint.

I hope someone good comes forward.

The yard is excellent, two schools, gallops, regular shows, and within hacking distance of a local competition venue.

i think you will be fine, people will always try and put you down. all i would say if get everyone who rings to come and see him and then right off the people who aren't right for him. i've got all 3 people coming up next week to try him and then i will see who i like best and who works best for my boy.

oh and i printed out my ad and put 2 pics on it (to on the right of my sig) so people could see him before they bothered to ring.

He is fear aggressive, it is worse with men, he actively attacks them, whereas women, he just pulls the grumpy face to.

I think it was more than likely a man who mishandled him in the past.

haha no men...i like that...seriously though i think you will find someone, ive got a great sharer, she wasnt the best rider but she wouldnt let him get away with things, i lowered the amount i was asking for sharing contribution so she could afford lessons with yard owner, which has ment yard owner happy, horse happy, sharer happy and me happy : ) Everyone find their happy medium eventually
