Could I find a horse like this on loan?

So delighted as I am with my new 3yo, I'm feeling a bit guilty as my mum was hoping to share him, and it's quickly becoming apparent that she's not going to be able to ride him for ages, if at all. I was wondering if it might be a good idea to look for something on loan for her to ride, and to act as a nanny when mine starts to hack out.

However, she is very novice and a bit nervous, and I have no idea if the kind of horse she could ride would ever be up for loan. She wouldn't want to do more than hack and do some light schooling, and would be happy with something older. But it would have to be completely genuine and sensible. Do these sort ever come up for loan? Would she be better off looking to rehome one from a charity? Or will we just have to save up and buy another?

Go for an older horse, rescues often need good homes for the oldies, my OH bought an 18yr old ex racer, (private sale) everyone who met him loved him (the horse not my OH) even I liked riding him (only just prefered my lad)
we didn't have him nearly long enough lost him to colic, but we now have another oldie, a 18yr old ex brood mare and another sweetie, there's life in them thar golden oldies.
Mind we are content happy hacking with the odd pleasure ride thrown in

We found our long term loan for my mum through our farrier. If you put a horn on her she'd look like a unicorn she's so beautiful and a temperament to die for. So yes we were lucky but there are horses like that out there and often on your doorstep. Good luck.

id say to have a look at the golden oldies too. my loan horse is 20 and has been great at getting me back into riding after many years out of the game. hes safe, knows his stuff and can really go when i want him to!
dont let people tell you that a TB cant be a good novice ride, as mine has proved all the haters wrong! :)
have a look around, there will probably be loads of veteran ex racers and many other oldies looking for good homes!
