my mum has finally agreed to consider getting me a trailer. i have seen rice trailers are fairly cheap but i have strong opinions on them with horses hooves going through the floor, so im wondering if i got one if could get an aliminuim floor fitted in one and if i could how much would it cost and who would i turn to, to get it done?
thanks

Aluminium would have to be supported more than wood unless it was really thick. Once the old floor is removed you would probably have to add extra support; welded in place. I think a lot of people use aluminium cladding over the wood floor. When I put a new floor in our old Rice, I used scaffold boards; with extra support. Then rubber matting over the top. The cheapest place to get aluminium cut for the floor would be at a local sheet metal workshop. You will find them in the yellow pages.

I wouldn't bother going to the expense of changing the floor in a Rice trailer. I've had wooden floors, looked after them and never had a problem.

When you boo look at a trailer take a screwdriver with you and poke the floor all over with it to check there are no soft spots.
