Not my horse and owner will get vet I am sure but just wondering if this sounds like arthritis? 18 years old heavyweight cob. Not over weight in at night out from 9 to 5. Went lame end of November really thought he had an abscess, farrier came couldn't find any sensitive spots. two weeks rest and he was sound again. Is only in light work. This week all the world like a brewing abscess again, farrier again found nothing. Today, trotting sound again?? He could be a little older, but has had a charmed life for last five years no jumping or really hard work. Maybe had a hard life before? Came from a dealer so no real history.

My physio said the majority of horses in their teens had some varying degree of arthritis so it is highly likely. My 15 yo is suspected to have it very slightly in his hocks but I haven't got the vet involved, I just try keep him out as much as possible, feed a good joint supp, do lateral work to keep him flexible and keep his weight down. :)
