I have a 5 year old plaited cob i was riding him the other day and when i was leading him into the field he kept stopping snd pickIng hind hoof up. he was a bit grumpy. Felt down both back legs both feel warm to touch, 1 i feel is slightly swolen which he keeps pointing out. im in a field in my own andso havr noone to walk and trot him for me to watch, his demeanour isnt right either he is a grumpy boy a lot but he is really grumpy now if i walk him he just stops ges biting me help!

If you suspect he is lame and really have no one to come and help you check then you need to get a vet out who will be able to advise you, if the leg is swollen then he may have an injury that requires treatment, I guess you have checked his feet properly to make sure there is no sign of thrush, it may well be an abscess brewing, he sounds very uncomfortable and as if he wants you to do something which in this case is to get a vet.

Hi, yes checked his feet flexed his joints for reaction but really didnt get anything from him. Ive hosed leg down lastnight and i will be going down in a bit to have a look and see how he is today.
