Hi,

To all you showing peeps do you think my horse could do an unaffilliated working hunter class? Now I know nothing about showing but my instinct is that she is too small being 16hh and too fine boned being a TB.
Would it be a waste of time or should I give it a go??? Shes a good jumper so thats one thing in her favour....

Ive got to send the entry off by the end of the day and I dont know if to do it or not!!

Sorry about the rubbish pics, no decent conformation shots but you get an idea of her type (none of the pictures are professional):-

Although she wouldn't be a classic WH type, if she jumps well and is turned out correctly I think at local level unaff you should give it a go !

of course you can, she is lovely by the way!! There are tonnes of TB types in workers, tbh as long as she has nice confirmation, no blemishes and goes well on the flat and jumping than there is no reason for you not to go out and win!! Good luck!

Would be ok for unaff imo, but don't expect to be placed.

IME the rosettes always go to judges favourites (esp in unaff showing) so big bays and greys (pref overweight) regardless if your horse has better technique over a fence etc.

Just my experience, well of that and doing WH on my pony

You really have to look the part too, otherwise they won't look twice at you, so a tweed jacket, melon hat etc etc.

Get your entry in! Will be fine for unaff. - lots of marks for jumping and way of going - though agree that unaff. can be a bit of a lottery as far as judges go. Nothing ventured nothing gained!

I think you'd do well round our neck of the woods. I disagree that the prizes go to the judges favourite - certainly in WH anyway. Yes the judges are always going to have a favourite type but with the WH judging being based on a scoring system if you do a nice clear, your horse has decent confirmation and manners you should do well. Go for it and good luck!

my friends tb has qualified for open workers at SWPA. Workers dont tend to have a type at local level..you will see anything do it

Cool, thank you.

Lol Amymay, she is a little porky at the mo although shes ridden every day so it quite fit. Shes very greedy, will find food in concrete

Shes a TB by Bobs Return (Bob Back).

I will give it ago, my limited showing experience has taught me not to hold my breath when it comes to a rosette so I'll go with an open mind

Def go for it she is gorgeous and turned out like a worker will do great and you will love it!! I do local workers on my maxi and he gets placed (when deserved) as do the tb's. When I think back normaly local workers are a mix of cobs and tbs so dont feel like you wont fit in, you will see all sorts!! Good luck

Hell yes, she's a lovely looking mare, if she can jump well, do a nice individual show, has good paces and your both turned out well, at local level you will be pleasantly suprised...get out there and give it bash!
