Could this be kenel cough??

My little dog has had a bad nights sleep it sounds like something is stuck in his throat and he keeps retching and being sick, no coughing or sneezing though, obviously he will be going straight to the vets this am but I'm worried about him, (we do agility where there has been a outbreak of kc, but all dogs who have it don't attend training - last 2 weeks there has only been the dogs who are vaccinated against it there) poor boy

does sound like kennel cough or he's eaten something that got stuck!

Vaccinating dosnt cover every strain of kennel cough so your dog could have picked it up from agility training.

Dogs are contagious before, during and after the coughing stage and incubation is 4 - 11 days or thereabouts.
Vaccination is hit & miss so vaccinated dogs can spread the illness (some viral & some bacterial).


Please keep your dog away from other dogs for three weeks after the last cough or throat symptom.

Sounds very like Kennel cough to me. Definitely speak to your vet (don't take him into the surgery until you have spoken to vet).
He may have something stuck but yours sounds just like my dog was last year and that was KC. Had antibiotics and recovered well.
Either way Definitely speak to vet.
ETS did I read somewhere you had been looking after another dog for a while? If so get this one checked as well.

He is staying in the vets for the night, 2 visits today!! He couldnt even keep water down earlier. The vet is really confused as to what is wrong with him, but treating his symptoms! The house is really empty without him!!

He came home from the vets yesterday afternoon after being on a drip for 24hrs, he is now eating normally (well chicken and rice) and a bright and happy boy. Ive still got to give him the antibiotics although she hasnt coughed at all, he has only made a raspy noise a couple of times since I picked him up, and has only had 4 antibiotics so Im wondering if he doesnt really have kennel cough, I warned the vets as I know it has been going around at agility.
