Could this become reality in the UK, the banning of dogs ?

I am surprised that you feel society is heading towards an anti dog position. I live in an area where dogs are a big part of most peoples lives and have just returned from a holiday where by I took both my dogs and they were welcome in pubs, hotels, camp sites and beaches along with many other dog owners and their dogs. There are many people who don't like dogs, two of my sisters coming in that category, they really dislike dogs and won't have mine in their homes and request they stay in another room when they visit me. That's their choice and nothing to do with their religion. This article is not opening a sensible debate it is just scare mongering.

This is an interesting article and goes to prove that certain sections of society are becoming less dog friendly.

I dont share the views of the original title and I didnt write it, I dont see it as scaremongering its out there in the public domain and the people who write these articles have their own agenda obviously. But coupled with the above link certain councils who are anti dog will use this as pc evidence to thwart dog ownership or restrictions.

On 2 occasions Ive had anti dog encounters, one I was walking through our village with my Lancashire Heeler and Dobe bitch and someone screamed at me that dogs are anti social and crap everywhere and I should take them back home. They were both on the lead at the time and were not doing their business in the street(I do carry poo bags). The other is a complaint not to me but to everyone that will listen, this person has said they will no longer walk by my house as they are terrified of my dogs. My dogs bark at everyone that walks down the road past my house,its a breed thing, thats what they are meant to do. I have rung and offered this person to come and meet my dogs but she has declined, I know her of old and she is a nutter but is still spreading the message.
 
I do think that people are becoming more and more prejudiced against dogs. This can be put down to society becoming more selfish and intolerant to not just other people, but other species too. Far too many people have the belief that humans are the be all and end all (without having a single shred of evidence to prove that humans are the most important species) and want the planet to be for the exclusive use of humans. Dog haters just want them banned everywhere. They don't like them being walked on paths, don't like them running around in parks, don't like walking past a house and hearing them bark, don't like them using public transport, etc. All the instances of assistant dogs being refused entry to eating establishments, shops, being thrown off buses, etc can be confirmed. As can just about everything else in the article. I don't think it is fake at all as most of it is statement of fact. The only thing that is borderline propaganda is the banning of dogs in the UK. Although that day might very sadly come true as the authorities here bend over backwards and jump through hoops in order to accommodate Muslims.

The media also plays a big part in influencing the minds of people. It was because of pressure by them that American Pit Bull Terriers were banned. A move that has seen thousands of innocent dogs rounded up and killed in a mass genocide. They also appear to be seeking out every bite and attack these days. Instead of getting to the bottom of why they happen (usually human ignorance) all they can do is instill more fear into the public by saying bites and attacks were unprovoked and reminding readers of previous incidents involving certain breeds. Why can they not educate people about dog safety and let them know about all the good things breeds deemed 'dangerous' do? I will never take a story about a bite or attack at face value. There are always two sides to a story. Take the fairly recent one about the boy that was bitten by an Akita in a pub for example. All the reports on it said the boy's parents were getting ready to leave the pub when they heard the boy screaming. He had just been bitten by a dog. There were things about that which didn't add up. Like if there had been a dog loose in the pub, then why were they not aware of it, and keep the boy away from the dog? And why were they so negligent that they didn't notice him wandering off? I did a bit of digging and found a comment (left by somebody who had been in the pub at the same time). It turned out the parents had been drinking (not ready to leave) and hadn't realised the boy had disappeared. The boy had entered a private room which contained the dog. That explained the holes in the stories that were published. Then there is the death of Jade Anderson. It was tragic and I am very sorry that she is dead. However, it was said that post mortems would be carried out on the dogs, and Jade. The results of those have not been made public (not yet anyway). Could it be that the dogs weren't actually responsible for her death? People are also up in arms about the owners, but they probably didn't even know that Jade was in the house, let alone by herself. Yet, they are the ones being vilified for keeping 'dangerous breeds', and for letting Jade stay in the house herself. Yes, they could have perhaps educated their daughter (who invited Jade to the house) better about dogs and strangers, but the public are treating them like criminals. No doubt thanks to the one-sided reporting by the media.

All in all this country is becoming too anti-dog. They are already banned from restaurants, shops, and a lot of other public places (when they are freely allowed into many of those places in other European countries) and authorities are furthering their restrictions on particular breeds. At least the Netherlands and Italy have seen sense and lifted their breed bans. Hopefully the UK will one day be run by unbiased dog lovers.

I live in London so I am pretty multicultural and I have nothing at all against muslims etc living in Britain/Europe but I think its totally ridiculous to change our customs and cultures to suit the religious beliefs of people who are actively CHOOSING to live in a mostly Christian country.

I have met the get that dog away from my child brigade.
Funny how they back off when I point out that may dog is under close control( always on a lead away from home), is well trained and is clean so can they remove their brats from the proximity of my dog as I don't want her to catch anything from them.

Brilliant, I must live in a very tolerant area. I have not had complaints about my dogs and in many of the local pubs they are welcome as long as they are well behaved. I do have a neighbour however who leaves their dog to wander everywhere and when my bitch was in season their dog had jumped my fences and was howling outside my back door at 5.30 AM!!! Not impressed. There is no such thing as a bad dog only a bad owner.
