First BE and a jumping clear, was too tempting not to get it. If not only to prove to myself that we can do it!

It’s a million miles away from perfect. I know I went round most of it with the handbrake on, and not sure why he felt the need to add some half-pass between 6 and 7, but still, considering how green he is XC I’m over the moon!

Oh bless him, he'll have got so much confidence from a steady round, you must be delighted!
I’m over the moon. He’s only done 3-4 full XC rounds, and a handful of course hires/clinics, so very much still learning the game. We were miles over the time but speed is not an issue, I’d rather he had a good experience to set him up for the future! Brakes have previously been an issue but fingers crossed we’ve found a good setup for him, so I can encourage him to be that bit steadier and think about what he’s doing.

Well done! He really grew in confidence. Talented dressage horse too - fab lateral work :p
Haha, it’s his favourite move that one. If someone could just tell him it’s not required in any phase of a BE80 that would be marvellous ?

He’s just such fun, not always straightforward but wouldn’t change him for the world. Our “big” goal for this year was just to complete a BE event, so that’s ticked off and I’ve had to come up with some more goals for this season!

I thought you rode that beautifully for a confidence building run. Just kept presenting him and allowing him to see the fence.

Congratulations!!!
Thank you! He’s a good boy really, once he understands what you’re asking he’ll try his best to do it most of the time.

What a lovely video. You rode him really nicely through those wobbly bits. He makes that height look like nothing. I love the equireel vids!
Thank you! He does! I thought it was big walking it but he makes it look easy. Nice to think that the eventual goal of some 90s is achievable. The vids are such a good learning tool too, I’ve watched it back a good few times and seen a few bits where I could have done something differently to help him.

He became more confident as the round went on and he’ll soon start looking for the flags instead of adding in some dressage moves between jumps! ? You must be so chuffed to have achieved your goal so early in the season.
