I could not be happier my 6 y/o did his first showing show today. He's been unwell since February with a poorly liver and was finally given the all clear to start work again last week after an improvement in his bloods (not there yet, fingers crossed for this weeks bloods) so I decided to enter him in to a few in hand classes, expecting to be bottom of the pack because he's lost muscle and could do with a few more pounds on him. He managed a 3rd in the hunter type class, 1st in Handsomest Gelding and reserve supreme champion. Both judges commented on his kind handsome head, and the hunter judge said he would have come 1st if it wasn't for a splint! She even encouraged me to pursue ridden hunter classes with him as she rates his chances as he's very polite and has good paces. So I'm over the moon and I just had to share, it feels like it's been a long few months and I'm so proud of him. :)

Thank you so much everyone :D
I've still got a massive grin on my face! It's taken me 5 years to find my horse of a lifetime, and the past few months have been awful with him being so unwell. I am just thrilled with it all, even if he hadn't been placed at all it wouldn't have mattered, he was a delight to do all day, reminding me how lucky I am to have such a lovely horse, and one that's on the mend too.

Unfortunately no pics from today I don't think, will check there wasn't an official photographer, but I doubt it as the weather was rubbish. And I didn't bring a camera-wish I had now. But will take a picture tomorrow of Elvis with his rosettes so you can see how handsome he is :)

Thank you again, it's lovely to hear such nice comments.

Even if there was no official photographer, there may have been someone there taking pics of the others in the line up, it may be worth contacting the organisers and asking them if they can either contact the other placings, or give you their details to see if anyone has a pic of you and Elvis in the line up, or in the ring. Hope they have, but you will always remember how he looked today :)

Thanks YorksG, that's a good idea I'll look in to it tomorrow. :)

But you're right I will always remember how he looked today and how proud I was of him.

I can't wait until the next show now!

And will make sure I bring a camera along next time!
