Council request not to use fields....

Many thanks for all you advice and information. I think we will wait to receive a letter and see what comes of it. It would be horrid if we have to concrete it up.

The yard is based on a old Abbey and there are often people walking around and taking photos. The walkers don't actually walk through the fields with horses in.
It's the pathways down to the fields. I don't think it's just the horses - tractors go down the path and the river floods/over flows into it too.

I think it's just because it not been very cold recently and the grounds not hard so it's worst than normal.

It's annoying because we don't complain when walkers dogs chase the horses and not clear up after them ect
And maybe the walkers should just wear wellies!!

I would be a damn site more worried about the person who fell off the bridge into the river. That is a lawsuit for failure of duty of care ,just waiting to happen.

The bridges are concrete and the width of a tractor. The person that fell in was walking along the bricked edge because they refused to walk through the mud and puddles.

OMG This is madness. If people want to walk in a rural area ie: across green fields. Is it too much to ask that they wear sensible/suitable/safe footwear? If they have no desire to get "muddy" I sincerely feel they would be well advised to take a walk down the local high st. Or another suitable alternative would be through a local park that has tarmac rds. Simples!

As far as I know The council cannot insist the horses are brought off the fields. But it i the duty of the land owner not to make public rights of way unusable; maybe putting soe hard core down or taping/fencing off the footpath would be a good idea.
If I were you I would complain about the dogs chasing totally unacceptable and get the council to put up those no dog muck signs with an £80 fine this has happened recently near to us where dog owners allowed dog to foul a footpath.
