Just a thought- because you had to cut them, perhaps that’s what the issue was with replacing yours- they were unable to see the actual cause for your needing to cut them off. My wellies split in a place that apparently was quite common for those wellies (my research has since shown) so they may well have been prepped for those kind of calls and been told to just replace them as it was a common fault.

Yes that's possible although they didn't say that in any of our email exchanges. Thanks for your helpful reply.

ihatework if you can be bothered to read this I'll take it up again and contact the retailer if it's as easy as you say to trace. However no need to be nasty and I have only stated MY experience with Ariat which is as valid as anyone else's.
